2024 Southland Team Roping Results
Wow! What a roping! The 2024 Southland Team Roping presented by Live Oak Texas Vodka showcased extremely talented equine athletes and 60 top notch teams all gunning for the same thing - the Southland Incentive BIG money payout.
Buyers attending the inaugural San Antonio Invitational Horse Sale were also able to watch many of the consigned horses perform in the roping. It was an action-packed day that paid out $198,000!
Format
#13.5 Slide : 2 Rounds : 20-Team Short Round : Limited to 60 Teams
Consigned sale horses and Southland eligible horses (horses sired by stallions enrolled in the Southland Incentive) were allowed to enter first. Entire draw can be found here in the 2024 Southland Team Roping Program.
This father/son duo started their high-money day off right by winning $2,000 in the first round with a 6.01 second run. Braden Martinez was heading on Lena Zan Badger by Zan Silver Pay. Lena Zan Badger was also consigned to the San Antonio Invitational Horse Sale and was Lot #13 selling for $27,000.
JR Martinez was heeling on Duals Yellow Berry by the Southland enrolled O’Brien Ranch stallion, Quails Yellow Berry which also earned him a $2,500 Southland Incentive payout.
Things got hotter in the second round as Shane Philipp and Craig Miller stopped the clock at 5.87 seconds. Both men were riding horses by the Southland enrolled L.A. Waters Quarter Horses stallion, Wild Card Dun It. Shane was heading on Ironman Wild Card and Craig was heeling on Jigsaw Wild Card.
In Round 2 alone, these two great horses helped this team earn $2,000 plus another $4,000 Southland Incentive payout.
These gentleman just traded horses and kept the streak alive all day. Braden rode the Southland eligible, Duals Yellow Berry on the head side while his father rode Lena Zan Badger on the heel side to earn another $2,000 for winning the Legacy Broker Group Short Round .
Braden and Duals Yellow Berry also earned another Southland Incentive Payout of $2,500.
